You can talk about the sneaky freaky with kids as young as 5. As long as the conversation is age appropriate, you can discuss this matter. Start off with letting your child ask questions and answer as delicately as possible.

When your child asks a question, don't lie. Answer with short answers, but not being embarrassed. Some one has to teach the child, and best it be you and not the streets. But, when they ask, don't give too much information. Keep the doors open for communication, and don't act ashamed, etc. You may have to leave the room sometimes with some of the questions, to not laugh, or cry, but don't react in front of them.
How you react and how you teach them will be the cornerstone to their sexual identity and experiences. Good luck. We have all been there, and we made it. I was honest and used the correct terminology when my kids asked, and it has paid off. You will do just fine, again, if you don't make sex dirty or laughable. And what is the wild thing? Sounds like someone gave you some bad information earlier in life. Nothing wild about it, just normal fun that God gave us to enjoy each other. Animals who have no brains are the wild ones. And immature guys who don't respect women.
Have a great day and a happy forever.

when you feel he is ready. They all are not ready to hear things at the same chronological age level. But if they ask questions, answer them honestly and tactfully for their intellect. Perhaps when there is some quiet time you could bring up or prompt a question or situation to see if they are interested in talking about it. I talked to my oldest a few times during his aging. 1st when I was pregnant with his little brother, next when he said something that hinted he's hearing things at school, next when I caught him masterbating 3 times, and again recently. He will be 18 next month. When the interest or situation arises like a long passionate kiss on tv...take a moment but don't dwell. a little at a time and appropriate language for the age group.
It's kool. I'm a single mother and have to talk to 2 boys! lol
it's not difficult..but they bring up the appropriate names for certain body part in 5th grade now..
so..you may want to work in a little bit of info now.
good luck and keep it lite .

well my mum never spoke to me about the 'wild thing' lol.... how old is your kid now?? if he/she is older than 12 then please don't use the words 'wild thing' hehe cos thats really embarrassing for a kid they would probably laugh and want to stop talking about it!!

I just picked up stuff from my sisters!!! There isn't an age limit to talk about it really!! Its either when they start asking questions, or when they are starting to date or even if you start to notice they are acting differently or being rebellious even hanging about with the wrong crowd!! x

9?! What..or Am I just...that over active and protective one?

If I were you , I'd go for 10-13. Most likely , she will find out , or learn about it in school , before the age of 12.

So , if you want to tell her , I'd go for 10 or 11.

The same could also be applied to boys.

just my 2 cents.

My Dad had me arm wrestle him when I was four and told me if I lost I couldn't date until I was 30 if I lost. Being a firefighter, he won. What can I say, I didn't have a lot of arm strength at the age of four. I am 30 now and I probably need to get started!
