Can you mileage really be zero if you are driving???

If you are moving, you are getting some gas mileage. It may be very low, under 1 MPG but you will be getting something. If you are stopped with the engine running, you are then getting zero MPG at that time, because you are not moving!

Sometimes, yes. You obviously have on of those "This is your gas mileage" displays. If you are going downhill with a good tail wind it can also show you're getting 100 miles per gallon. That isn't accurate either. Forget the instantaneous setting, it will just confuse you. What matters is the overall.

No. even when you buy the car it will have a few mileage on it.

If it's zero - you know someone messed with it.
