If I were you, I would find the best possible time to talk to your mom concerning your feelings. Try and not be argumentative or accusing. Just try to stick with the facts: the reasoning behind wanting the job. Also, point out your good points, and the fact the you are a good, responsible kid. Also, try to understand your mother's reasoning behind her opposition. And, last, without making her mad, find a way to ask your mother what the consequences would be if you were to take the job, regardless of how she feels. Perhaps, you can even ask for a compromise: you take the job, and she gives you a trial period to ensure that your grades and responsibilities remain up to par.

You sound like a good kid. Good luck. I know that parents can be difficult.

You need to sit her down and have a talk with your mom. Explain that you are growing up and are taking on more responsability. She should be proud of you that you wanna earn your own way and pay for your own things. What if one of your friends or other relatives gave you a ride? And sometimes a co-worker gave give ya a ride also if you work it out. But it kinda sounds like she's trying to treat you like a little kid when in all actuality you are trying to be more grown up. Maybe that bothers her that you ARE growing up and she's afraid she's going to lose you.

Find a job closer to home.

While she may be unreasonable, she is your mother, so you need to abide by her rules.

Personally, I would be THRILLED if my 15-year-old got herself a job to pay for incidental expenses. I wouldbe more than happy to drive her there. My mom worked crazy hours when I was a teen, but she still drove me to, and picked me up from work, made it to all of my recitals and concerts, etc. Perhaps you could have a (calm) conversation with her to discuss priorities. If she is unwilling to pay for what you want to have (the things you listed are not needs), she should be at least willing to allow you to work to pay for them, assuming your grades are kept up.

Ask her if there is anything around the house you can do for extra money. She may feel that 15 is too young to work. Explain what you have just done here to her...................
