LOL... "really need it". I doubt you REALLY need an iphone, I'm sure it's more of a case of WANTING one.

It depends on the 13 year old, her school and club resorces, her folks and her friends.
Is hes/shes very busy and her parents have a hard time keeping track of her then maybe yes, she could have a phone. An iPhone is a higly liked product and no, apple products are useful whoever said it was bad because it was apple.
There is a huge diffence between WANT and NEED!

I think that an iphone is unneccesary.
Maybe a cheaper phone, but chances are a 13 year old will lose it or break it, and I see no reason at all why a 13 year old should need to have a cell that does that much.

lol. It depends if you think they are responsible enough to keep it without killing it. When I was 13 my phone went through the wash 3 times... haha. But now I have an EnV and it works good and I treat it like my child... lol. So it depends. And REALLY NEED IT? lol nobody REALLY NEEDS an iPhone. But if you think she's ready and responsible, go for it!

Nope. It's just for status and show, they don't really NEED it. I'd get my kids an ugly phone they'd be embarassed about so they would only use it in emergencies like they are supposed to and not rack up the minutes showing off how cool they are because they have a phone.

Don't give her a phone that you would kill yourself over if she lost it at school or somewhere else like the movies. If she loses an iphone then trust me..she won't get it back. Millions of teens r ready to steal it if it is left there.

If you were a 13 year old with an iPhone, and you took it to school, you would blink and it would be stolen.
Unless you chain it to your pants, and chain your pants to your legs, and chain your legs to the sidewalk, and hold onto it too, while it's in a locked bag, I would feel really unsafe with it.

No, I don't think it's necessary, for my 14 old I only gave an old fashion one. (As in his school also forbidden to bring handphone with infrared, bluetooth, and camera!). And I asked him to save money to buy his own MP3 player. And it works! He save his own money to buy it, so he can appreciate his own things and also when we get him something he will take care of it. Teen age have to learn that they can't just get thigs easily, they to know what price thay pay for a stuff that they want.

no they wouldn't need it. Plus how are the parental controls on the iphone if the kid goes online? I think it is too much. Maybe an ipod mini would be nice.
