What is your style for playing The Sims 2? Do you play the families that come with the game or create your own? Or both? Do you age your sims or is it turned off? Do you make them into werewolves, vampires, and all that stuff? How many generations have passed in your neighborhoods?

Personally, I play the game extremely meticulously. I have all the expansion packs installed and usually play the families in Pleasantview. I turn their aging off and say that four seasons count as one year. I picked approximate ages for each of the characters, and when the time is right, I age them. I used the college adjuster hack to give them all 6 wants, and I roll dice to choose which want to lock and achieve for each sim. I also try to achieve their lifetime wants, and I have the random lifetime wants for all aspirations hack. I don't tend to create my own families anymore. I used to, but I like using the Maxis families now.

So how do you guys play?

Sometimes, I'll play the Maxis-made families, but typically I create a family based off of a TV or movie character. I like to try to make up stories (sometimes including vampires; I've never had a werewolf or zombie or plant sim). I usually turn off aging, except when they're having children, so I don't get very far in terms of generations.

I did try the Legacy challenge and made it up to the 7th generation before my computer crashed and I lost everything.

I also have all the expansion packs and try to combine different aspects from each of them in order to make the experience more realistic.

You can't, that I know of. But the base game and most of the expansion packs are available online at EA's website. After you purchase them, you can download and install them directly to your computer. And with the launch of The Sims 3 being so close, the price for The Sims 2 is now relatively cheap.

well,
I play the sims in a very peculiar fashion

I first have the vampires, taking over the neighborhood, almost everyone in my neighborhood is a vampire now, and it's funny because in college, there are vampires in my dorm rooms and they dont have a coffin, and they walk around burning their skin off during the day.
I stick with one family because i like doin the whole generation thing. I'm at the fifth generation right now.
and i also like to have the people marry, reproduce, divorce, remarry, reproduce, divorce
and i basically make a humongous family tree where everyone is related to one another
=)
I also get one sim and tries to make best friends with everyone
so far she has about 50 best friends, and still making more
i also have all the expansion packs
sims is quite fun =D
I do not use the maxis families though

I hate the ones that came with the game. I don't have any expansion packs and since I just had to reinstall the game, no generations yet, but I'm working on it. I have a crapload of custom content, and as a result, my game loads REALLY slow. I spend more time creating families than anything else, but when I play them, I love having Sims with multiple partners or same-sex marriages.

I don't play the families much. I'm more for building. I had to reformat the computer so all my Sims 2 data was gone. But when I do play families, I make my own and I put in 'boolprop testingcheatsenabled true' before entering the house so I don't have to feed them and stuff. And, I put in the code for 50,000 simoleons like.. a lot. My ONLY family in my neighborhood is an adult girl who lives by herself and is looking for a guy..Still looking! xD
