Wondering if anyone owns a taurus that has had alternators go out multiple times? I have had 2 put in my car in the last 7 months, I also got a new battery on the last time.

Or, Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

This alternator has an integral regulator - so it's really two components in one. It is rather easy to test the alternator right on the vehicle to see if it is truly a bad alternator or just a faulty regulator. This should be done rather than just replace the whole unit when it fails to charge the battery.
Alternators are not a particularly common fault with your vehicle - I would suspect a faulty replacement part was installed.

It could be a blown fuse. The first source is for a 2001, but yours is probably similar. Note the fuse in the diagram about halfway down, the one that says it is in the "battery junction box (front center of the engine compartment)". As I make it out, if that fuse is open the alternator will still work well enough by the power coming through the warning lamp but the lamp will stay on. There are not enough details there for me to be sure about that.
