I read a question by someone named Candice:

and I recently learned of a movie that bashes God, and filters kids minds that Christians are bad? The man made his books against C.S Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, and wrote a triolgy to promote his side. Also, having big celebrities to promote the movie. I find amazing that there was not one single big actor in Narnia, but made millions. How great is that.

Well, I wont be seeing this film, or anyothers of this so called author. Who else is with me?

i've read the book myself that the Golden Compass is based upon, and it doesn't seem to me to be focussed on demoting or bashing religion. i mean, there was nothing at all in the book that directly said, "Christianity is bad."

the story mainly surrounds Lyra Belacqua and her world where the human soul is represented by an animal spirit called a daemon. when children across the country mysteriously are kidnapped by what are known as the Gobblers--including Lyra's friend, Roger--Lyra is determined to rescue him. this leads to daring journeys to the North--facing entities such as armored polar bears and witches.

i thought the story was creative and one-of-a-kind. just my opinion. i really don't think that the movie and the book was made to purposedly filter the minds of kids. it's supposed to be a family movie. recently, i read in a magazine featuring an interview of Nicole Kidman and she stated that she wouldn't have done the movie if it was against what she believes in.

overall, the story is just fiction. it's suppose to just entertain.

but, again, not everyone has to agree with everyone. some may go see the movie, while others will choose not to. it's just all up to what we call "Free Will".

Ok just so you know almost every author out there is going to have somewhat of their own opinion of everything is every book they write. Have you every scene a movie that used the "N" word in it?? Or used the term Bible Thumpers?? Do you have any idea how many movies bash so many different kinds of people?? Are you Christian? If so ok but don't listen to others see it for yourself. If not why do you care so much????

See answers to similar question elsewhere in this category.

And just 'cuz you choose to not see it does not make it a boycott. Get all of your narrow and like minded friends together and go picket the movie theater. Then it will be formal boycott.

Good grief. Dont you have better things to do with your time?

The previews looked good to me. I even know a Christian pastor who is taking his wife and daughter to see it when it comes out. So it must not be all bad.

If you don't want to see it, then fine. But a boycott is rather extreme. Find something more productive to do.
