Acoustic guitar and electric guitar are the same instroment except you plug one in. Learning on an acoustic will be better for you and the members of your household to deal with because its not as loud as an electric. Teaching yourself is hard becaus when you get lessons, the people who teach you know easier ways to put your fingers on the strings and little tricks. I hope i helped good luck!!!!

i never played the guitar, but i think that it would be better acoustic.
You should get lessons, or ask someone (for example someone in your family or a friend) that knows, to teach you. If you cant you could try to teach yourself with books. Although, there is online lessons.

I'd go with an acoustic guitar. It might be easier as you start to learn all about chords, what they sound like, and then eventually learn about playing notes. Later on you might have to decide whether you like to play chords or notes. You might want to look at the cost for either type of guitar and decide which one you might commit to if you're really serious about learning to play. good luck.
