The Stooges with Iggy Pop. Pretty good, except for the 80's.

Black Sabbath with Ozzy Osbourne. First two albums were good...

Hahahaha...please no thumbs down ya'll, but David Lee Roth. from Van Halen.. Come on:) If U listen to his first solo album Eat 'em and Smile:) it kicks right from the start! Line up is Dave .. Steve Vai guitars....Billy Sheenen bass and Greg Bissonet on drums...not sure about spellings there...but a very talented band:) two more decent albums Skyscrapper and Lil anit enough..but only the drummer remaind on those:(

The Yardbirds had 3 excellent guitar players but only 2 went solo:
1) Eric Clapton
2) Jeff Beck

Jimmy Page was the third guitar player but he went to Led Zeppelin.

Here is one that worked in reverse, each had solo carreers and came together and are having really good career Montgomery Gentry

Beatles are a good example of that. All 4 went on to write plenty of likeable tunes after the break up.

Zeppelin spawned some good work out of Page & Plant.

& Nirvana gave us the amazing Foo Fighters.
