Why is it said that women are naturally more attractive than men?

I have heard this so many times. Men are hairy, a penis is ugly. A girl I know said the reason more women "experiment" is because women are just naturally more appealing and most women are attracted to other women. Well, how can this be NATURALLY true when women have to shave their legs, armpits, paint their nails, make-up, pluck eyebrows, dye their hair, wear high heels to make them taller, push-up bras, undergarments to tighten and give them more curves, go tanning and so on just to get that "more appealing" image. That isnt natural. It is a fabrication. I mean, if you stripped it down, naturally, women arent much different than men in my opinion. Barring the obvious genetic differences. But, a 100% NATURAL woman would be much less appealing on the eyes than what we actually see. There are exceptions, some women are just beautiful. But, for the most part, if you have to rely on all of those additives, are you REALLY naturally beautiful?

No I am not bitter. I have 3 young children by a beautiful women. However, men get this ewww gross thing from society, and from alot of women I might add.

I am very secure being a man, I love being a man. I am as simple as they come...shower, deodorant, brush teeth...DONE. The eww gross factor is on TV, from women....etc. Have you NOT seen this...how could you not? It's like it is okay to bash a guy on his looks or being hairy and so on....but it is taboo to suggest a women is anything less than perfect. When that just isnt true. My POINT is that women are not what they appear to be, yet, because of their cosmetic enhancements, they really DO feel that they are. As Chris Rock said in his stand up....it is a walking lie. So, I feel it should be treated as such. Just my opinion.

It isnt about me being insecure about being a man. It is about women being insecure about being a woman....isnt it?

All I know is that I know a lot of beautiful/handsome guys and I think both men and women are attractive in different ways. I, for one, am attracted to men not other women. So I guess I don't really get the question. What ARE you trying to say? That men are "naturally beautiful" but women aren't?

And by the way, I also don't get what you mean by the "ewww gross" reaction? I would have a reaction like that maybe if someone was just really unkempt and had bad hygiene. GENDER wouldn't have a thing to do with it. You sound insecure about being a male.

No, really, I still don't get the ewww gross thing. Maybe I don't watch enough TV. But here's the deal - some people are attractive, some not so much, we all know that. Women do have more options for improving their looks, with cosmetics, etc. That's true. My question is - WHY does that bother you?
Would you so much rather see "natural" women everywhere? You know - hairy legs, no makeup, you get the picture. Women try to look attractive, not only to feel good about themselves, but to appeal to men! Men take care of their appearance for the same reasons, so what's wrong with that? We all want to look our best.

And how are you, a VERY secure man, qualified to comment on how ALL women feel about themselves anyway?

I think you and Chris Rock need to take a look at both sides of this, and get off your high horse for heaven's sake.

In a way, everyone is 'naturally' beautiful. Unfortunately, society has been telling us since the dawn of time it seems like that we aren't attractive enough without being who we aren't. The reason someone might say that women are more attractive then men, is because they have (like you mentioned) numerous ways to make themselves look extremely beautiful. That's why I feel bad for guys sometimes, if people don't think they are attractive, they can't really do anything about it. Where as girls have makeup, straighteners, and everything else that you mentioned. So when it may APPEAR that women are more attractive then men, they really aren't naturally like that. I agree with you. However, everyone is beautiful in their own way, we just get so used to people being EXCEPTIONALLY beautiful because of makeup and tanning and all those other artificial things. That was a good question by the way. :)

Well, I actually get told I am very pretty and all I do is shave (I guess I'm lucky that I don't need make up, yet at least =). I think this is very interesting though, and partially true, but I've never heard a women think all men are hideous because of what they are born with. Back in the old days when there were no enhancements (make up and stuff) women were still thought of as pretty I'm sure though.

I hear that a lot too. But the fact is, guys are stuck with themselves exactly the way they look when they get up in the morning, women can put on however much lipstick and makeup they want. Oh, and my penis is certainly not ugly, thank you very much.

Well here's my 2 cents:

-Beauty/Atractivness is in the beholder. A guy could like a girl, that might seem repulsive to some, or vice versa.

-I wanna see a written report on that or else you lie/making it up

-Women are women, men are men. We are equal except with genetic differences

-Some care about why people do what they do to make themselves better looking...others don't. Who cares?


SUMMARY:

This is a bogus question without any facts that we already don't know. I mean...COME ON...who says guys don't do things within equivalence to women eh?

We all have are fair share of preparation, either men or women.

but to go with the topic, guys just seem uglier because they dont bother enough lik girls to go to all the trouble to appear appealing. if guys put as much effort as girls to hav sugery, make-up, fashionable stuffs and all, guys would appeal to our senses as much as girls try to
