1. Might not seem so, but going with my heart, even though sometimes it lead to failure, was always the right thing I did, and I feel the same when I look back, even though some things did not work out.

2. Getting a college degree. Brings great security.

3. Saving money. Brings great security and peace, knowing you have money saved for a rainy day and you can take care of yourself and not beg or borrow.

What I KNOW was the smartest decision I ever made was to go to Al Anon, which is a 12-step program for the families or friends of alcoholics. It's the counter-part to Alcoholics Anonymous. It literally changed my life in the best way possible. In Al Anon is where I came into myself, grew up spiritually/emotionally, and found freedom from the constraints of issues from my childhood which had been holding me prisoner. Every day of my life I will be grateful...

To never give up and keep moving forward even when the light at the end of the tunnel seems dim and so far away. Sometimes the light can play tricks on your eyes.

to keep up my search, over years, to find my own sense of spirituality and then a church which fit it, as opposed to giving in and accepting what surrounded me, though it didnt feel right
