I don't think so. He was having problems with Congress, foreign affairs, especially Vietnam and China, were a challenging dilemma, and some in Congress were hearing rumours of his strange affairs with some women includng a German spy from the German Democratic Republic, now defunct and united to the Federal Republic of Germany. Had he lived, his presidency may have ended in shambles. What can you say?

I think you have already pretty much answered your own question.

He was not a consummate politician, like: LBJ, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagen, FDR or George Washington, that's for sure.

And the "Bay of Pigs" invasion fiasco, would have haunted him, had he not been assassinated.

He got very little legislation thru congress, and he was certainly a womanizer.

About his only meaningful accomplishment as far as I can tell, was his causing Khrushchev to back down during the Cuban missile crisis.

Other than having a stunningly fashionable wife, and beautiful children, he was really one of our most unremarkable presidents.

The times were very different back then. The people were very different back then. All presidents have problems with Congress and foreign affairs. Johnson didn't fare so well with the Vietnam War either. No one would have. Too many protestors and detractors. I think he would have been OK.

Several powerful conservative senators, Kerr is the one I can remember, blocked much of his proposed legislation. Lyndon Johnson was more skilled at arm twisting and compromise.

I believe he would have, but no one can really answer that. I have often wondered how he would have handled the Vietnam as it progressed along.
