It definitely depends on your doctor and the practices at his or her office. I had my first visit around 6 weeks and they did it all. They did all the basics such as blood pressure and listening to the heart and lungs. I also got blood drawn for a full set of labs, gave a urine sample to test for hormone levels, got a full pap, had an interview to determine family history and risk factors, and then had a trans vaginal ultrasound.
A word on the ultrasound. When I had mine done the baby wasn't big enough to see it so it caused some undue stress. If all you can see is the gestational sac, it's not really a reason to worry at this point. My baby is now larger, growing, and healthy =)
Congrats on your pregnancy!

I guess all doctors are different. I went for my first appointment at 7 weeks, too and all they did was weigh me, take my blood pressure, take a urine test to confirm pregnancy and I had a trans-vaginal ultrasound to verify the baby's heart was beating and that it was not a mulitple pregnancy. The ultrasound also confirmed that the embryo was in the utuerus and not in my tubes. That was it!

The first week of December I will have my 12 week exam and I am told that is when they will do blood tests and a pap exam. That appointment is supposed to last a lot longer.

Hope that helps :)

They'll do a pap of course, weight you, take your blood pressure, have you pee in a cup, take blood or have you go to a lab to get blood work. They'll possibly talk to you about billing and such, talk about any questions or concerns you may have. It doesn't matter what you eat or wear (be comfortable) It will take about half hour or so..
Most of the appointments after that are weight, pee in cup, blood pressure, listen to HB (the best part) and measure belly :P
good luck and gratz!!

I had my first visit at 8 weeks. They asked me a million questions about my and my husband's background, they did a pap smear, a vaginal ultrasound (the best part of course! Saw and heard my baby's heart beating!), and took alot of blood to test for a bunch of different stuff.

Good luck!

He'll DEFIANTELY examine you so be prepared. The pap will happen and you might have to take some blood tests....But if you don't, don't worry about it. it will happen sooner or later. pretty much the first visit, he's just gonna check you and confirm that you are preggo and just talk to ya....
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Urine test, may draw blood, have you fill out paperwork and that's about it. They may do an ultrasound to check for fetal heartbeat (you will be shocked at how tiny it is). Good luck!!
