Most people who enter politics and run for office do so with the idea that they can change the world for the better. Of course that doesn’t necessarily mean that their concepts of a better world will mesh with yours, or anyone else for that matter.
The political process can be very rewarding in the act of actually accomplishing things. At the same time the political system can grind people down until they lose sight of what were their original dreams. They can begin to compromise and if do it enough they can lose their way. Some don’t get lost and while learning the reality of politics they become stronger and eventually they are able to achieve at least part of what they were seeking.
I suggest a challenge. Rather than talk down politicians, get involved. Begin by learning about your local government (city council or county board of supervisors) and begin that looking by understanding the budget and why the local government has made the decisions it has made. You find that things are not what you thought they were.
What does this have to do with the President, only that you may discover that the simple answer you suggest are not so simple after all.

Regardless what a person may think the President is looking out for the welfare of the country's citizens. He has nothing to do with creating legislation. His agenda is ordinarily plotted to follow the mandates of his political party. He may suggest that the economic climate be tempered to boost employment, provide a better standard of living for the worker and REDUCE the income tax rates for all people who toil. Say what you will about the wealthy but look to see who pays over 55 % of the taxes ? Then ask yourself who reaps
90 percent of the benefits ? Not the wealthy!. Also ask yourself what % of the jobs presently occupied in the US are due to Corporations? Those of you who constantly bash corporations, study some economics and put on your thinking caps and realize that welfare recipients create no wealth, provide no income and put a strain on those who work for a living. That goes for illegals as well.

It differs with each person, but these days it tends to be the people who are putting them in office. Like the huge compaines that are paying for their campain because the person running is going to return the "favor" once they are in office. Like tax breaks for big compaines, or favorable conditions for the wealthy people.

Presidant Bush cares about his one and only-himself.
He wishes to please the admistration that he works for in order to keep himself in a monarch like position of power.
