shaving does irritate the skin especially if you're going in the wrong direction with the shaver or your skin is just naturally sensitive. Maybe try using a hair removal cream such as Avon's hair removal. It works for me. Most say that creams can cause irritation or burning (it hasnt for me) but if you do decide to use a cream then test a small area first. It gives a more smooth feel than shaving and its cheaper than waxing.
But honestly hair down there on guys isnt a big turn off for most girls as long as its trimmed and not out of control. But do whatever YOU feel is the most comfortable for you...

Some people prefer to shave in the direction of hair growth and some people go the opposite way? I guess it depends, I've always had better luck shaving opposite though. The hair won't all grow in the same direction probably, so maybe pay more attention to that? Get some bikini zone cream from the drugstore, also exfoliate gently with a washcloth or something every time you shower. I expect at least some of the bumps are ingrown hairs, that will help get rid of them. You may want to wait until the bumps and especially the cuts heal to shave again, right now you're probably just irritating them & making the problem worse? Also use the bikini zone cream after every time you shave to help prevent new problems. Also make sure you use a new razor head at least every other time you shave, the blades dull very quickly and running the razor over an area multiple times will make irritation a lot worse. Definitely use shaving cream or gel every time and shave at the end of your shower/bath- the hair is softer and easier to shave then.

shaving down there is the same as shaving anywhere else. the only difference - there is a lot of friction between the skin and clothes which is what causes irritation and unwanted breakouts etc.
the trick is, be really caring in your process.
tips:
-shave after taking a bath/shower - the heat and hot water makes for a closer shave and less irritation and less ingrown hairs.
-use either a sharp manual razor, or a good electronic razor.
-after shaving is done, apply moisturizing lotion. Not a ton of it, just a small amount enough to keep the skin from becoming dry (friction with clothes makes the skin become dry faster). Keep applying lotion every day for 2-5 days to ensure you won't irritate your skin and/or won't break out. In my opinion the worst side-effect of shaving pubic area is if you break out, because who wants red bumps down there?
-In my experience, wearing tighter underwear such as briefs or boxerbriefs for the first few days after a shave saves you from some friction because it keeps everything in place (haha).
-if you use a manual razor do it in the shower and use water for less friction, or use shaving cream after a shower.
-if you want to be really anal about it, you can soak a clothe in hot water and put it on the parts you wish to shave for about 5 minutes to really open up the pores.
hope some of those tips helped. If you need more information it isn't too difficult to find good online tutorials on how to make a good clean shave while avoiding unwanted irritation.

Well, I'm not a male porn star, but I trim my pubic hair rather than shaving. I shaved once and although it didn't actually itch that much, i just didnt like the appearance of it. Part of being an adult is have a bit of 'hairy definition' to that area, rather than looking like a 9-year-old boy.

Well if you shave it, then you have to do it daily shave, you can't let some hair grow out or else. You'll start having uncomfortable feelings "down there". Since you won't trim, I would suggest you either stick to shaving everyday, waxing, or just letting it grow out again....
I wouldn't base everything on p0rn stars as those are a bad way to see yourself as (it's called, editing). I usually just trim mine really down so it's nice. Shaving is more complex.

This really works, after shaving use deodorant where you shaved, you will get no bumps no itchys eather. They also make stuff called bikini zone (its for girls but guys can use it too) it burns like hell at first but you wont itch at all!

Just let it grow out and stay natural. You tried shaving, and your skin was too sensitive, so just don't do it again. Why do you want to look like a child down there anyway?

personally, i dont like the idea of anything sharp being near my best friend, so i use a depilatory (hair remover) like "veet". you find it near the girl razors in the store. no bumps, no itch, no burning sensation. i also put neosporin anti itch on right after to take care of any discomfort.
lasts long time (weeks) dont have to do it as often as shaving and its safer.

Honestly, use a girl razor - they have aloe strips and will soothe the skin as you shave it, making that itchy feeling go away! :) Good luck

Real men do *NOT* shave (or trim for that matter) their pubic hair. EVER!!!!!! Who cares what porn stars look like. Neither you or anyone you will ever sleep with look like modern porn stars. Watch some early 80's porn once in a while. You will see normal looking men and woman with normal hairy pubic regions and normal natural breasts..
