As a gay man in America, I have experienced discrimination. I was fired from a job once due to the fact that I'm gay. Because there were no laws in that state protecting gay people from job discrimination, there was nothing I could do about it.

Recently, a new manager was hired at my job. I suspect he is homophobic, but I cannot prove it. I went from being a longterm, respected, assistant manager to being completely ignored. Any suggestion I made after he was hired was ignored or downplayed. Because I could not PROVE that he was anti-gay, I quit the job rather than deal with his immoral behavior.

Yes. I think if we were all honest we would have to admit to having been discriminated against in our lives. Some much more than others.

I myself have been discriminated against because I'm female.
Because I am tall. Because of my beliefs...the list goes on.

Dealing with it is as individual as the situation at the time. There simply is no one set way of dealing with discrimination. One thing is certain, though, at least for me.

No matter how hurt and angry it makes me I am the one diminished if I lash out.

Yes, but it would have been too hard to prove. Fat, middle age people are discriminated in the work place, they usually don't get hired for jobs, because a cute ,young ,thin person will get the job instead.

I even have felt discriminated against for my atheism. it variety of feels that some believers sense that faith is the source of morality and that they assume that considering i do no longer enroll in their concept gadget, i'd desire to be immoral. that's via no potential a controversy I run into in many situations. many of the folk I meet choose me on my strikes, no longer my ideals. I am discrimated against by the very people I onced called friends. They are nice to my face, but prefer that I not be around. I guess I make them uncomfortable, although I've never been judgemental or anything like that. It used to hurt my feelings. Not anymore. The darkness tries to hide from the light.

Sure, all the time. Usually I got into fights (over 140 one year). When it was an authority figure doing it. I usually tried to stand my ground, but it always was tough.

My husband is foreign born and I found out that one of his cousins said "T" had married down because I was American! I reminded myself how stupid that was since they were all living here ( USA) and never spoke to the jerk face again!
