Turtles dont get lonely. They will just fight if you get another one. you need to make sure the water temp is around 76 degrees. And make sure to have 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell your turtle has. Got to http://www.redearslider.com for more feeding info

If you hold your turtle and rub the food up against the side of its mouth, it will open its mouth and eat the food. That's what I do since I'm not hibernating my turtles and they have stopped eating on their own. If I get a piece of food in its mouth, I'll run some water in there as well, just a little, so it can stay hydrated.

Also, I found a turtle in the road about to get killed. Then I found another a few months later in the same predicament. The first was a female, and the second a male... They seem to get along fine. The male is... Well, he's very curious and he likes to quickly crawl to where the female is trying to go if he sees her going somewhere.. I guess it's a game that they play. He's a little more shy than the female, who isn't shy at all and never hides in her shell. She's very sweet and loves to be petted and held. Some sites suggest keeping turtles solitary, but I think that these two were made for each other.

Turtles like variety in their diet. Here is a good link to other food choices:
