Not in shame but, in a kind of protest sabatical. Let the Republicans pay for their mistakes by putting someone in charge of the presidency next term and just allow them to destroy American life. It's a strategy I like to use with combative people: you give them the rope to tie themselves up for good with and then come in after they're finished screwing around and clean up their mess so everyone can clearly see what is going on. I might support reconsider voting for Rudy. What do you think?

Well, it's worked so far. The more people fight Bush, the more his base is energized. Let him put the country in debt without protest then let the Republicans hold him accountable. Working with people only works if they're interested in working with you.

There's a part of me that agrees. Let the Republicans run the show for another 8 years and plunge this country into another great depression. Unfortunately, I would expect the Republicans to declare Marshall Law to prevent losing power to the Democrats.
In 8 years, we'll be in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon. The Dow will be below 9,000 points. China is currently considering unpegging their currency from the U.S. dollar, which will cause consumer goods to triple in price. This scenario has already been set into motion, and may happen regardless of which party is in control. The next president, and their party will inherit a disaster and, of course, the Republicans will try to blame it on the Democrats.

Actually the Bushies have already gotten to the point where things are well screwed up. Now is the time for the Democrats to take over. People have begun to realize just how bad the current leadership of the GOP has been I don't believe they need any more reminding. I would not be surprised at a Democratic landslide in the 2008 election.

Our entire government should be disbanded in my opinion. They as a whole have already robbed us of most of our rights and liberties. It has already been proven that our system is bought and paid for by the military industrial complex with the illegal appointment of George W Bush to the office of President. It is too late for give em enough rope and they'll hang themselves. They've already hung themselves we the people just aren't doing anything about it!

I am a Democrat, and I don't think so. We are ALL Americans, and we're in this thing together. Disbanding out of protest doesn't unite us, but further divides us -- and divided, we *will* fall.
You want to change things? So do I, and I think every mother-lovin' career politician who has helped to screw America and Americans must be voted out, and there MUST be term limits in the House and Senate.

That would be asking Eugenics, corporatism and religious theocracy to arise as the primary governing forces in our lives.
But it would be nice to watch both parties sink the ship all by themselves, without anyone to blame but themselves. Maybe then, the childish bickering and smear tactics would end.

No. We can't let up our guard even for a second. There is too much at stake. The more oversight the better.

I thought of that as well. But, what happens if they (Repubs) get re-elected and make things even worse?
Empires do crumble. We are not invulnerable. They screwed things up, but we should still go in and fix it; otherwise, we might not have anything left to fix if we wait too long.

Yep.
Your attitude will change when you get a job & pay taxes.
You will then want the Democrats to disband forever.

Youre half right Steve. Change your use of the word "temporary" to permanent and erase all the dribble below and you might be on to something.
