I delivered my youngest daughter alone, nothing but me the nurses and the doctor there, so yea women do do it. There are nurses that will help you out if you need it.

You can hire a doula.

I had my husband, and a close family friend who has acted as a doula in the past. Neither did much of anything. I didnt really want much of anything. I WANTED my husband to be supportive and to help me through it, but he pretty much just complained, rolled his eyes, and acted like it was taking too long and it was too embarrassing to do anything more than stand near me.

I had my midwife who told me how and when to do everything, my mother in law showed up and ended up holdling a leg (i was in labor 43 1/2 hours I didnt give a flying fluck who was there by the time I was finally horking him out) my husband supported my back while I was on the stool (making the most idiotic "this is so overtaxing and boring" faces ever, honestly you should see the pictures) and my family friend took X rated pictures.

You dont really need anyone there. The nurses or doctors or midwives tell you what to do, and when it comes down to it, all you want it the baby, you dont notice anyone else once the baby is there.

Most hospitals or birthing centers have wonderful nurses. My nurse was a way better coach than my husband when I had my daughter, even though it was nice to have him there. If you want, you could see about hiring a doula, which is someone who is trained to help and coach with childbirth. I don't think I'd want to be alone during birth. I have heard many good things about Doulas.

many women deliver alone. in fact not so many years ago many hospitals did not let anyone besides the mommy in the delivery room.

i never really had a coach, i didn't feel i needed one. i didn't even take lamaze class or anything like that.

don't get me wrong, my husband was there, but more because it was his baby than that i needed a coach.

you will do fine alone, women have been giving birth for years!

Yes, you absolutely can do it without a coach of your own - the nurses and doctor will be your coach instead - and they're usually pretty great at it.

I'm sorry that you are going through this right now.

I've never been in labor before.
But I'm pretty sure you'll want someone there.
My baby's fathers left me, it didn't phase me, he was a jerk anyways.
But when I go into labor, I already asked my mom to be there, and hold my hand and stuff.
I don't think I could do it alone.

Most hospitals have really great nurses that will help you through it! You will be fine alone, I have three kids and through experience the nurses are the ones who really help you through it anyway! Don't worry you'll do fine!

you could always hire a birth assistant, doula. they also can come to a couple of appointments with you before the birth. and they are not to expensive either.
