Hack the firmware Speedtouch 580?

I know it is frowned upon by the Speedtouch people but is there anyway to hack the firmware to make it more powerful so the signal will transfer further?

It might be easier to buy an extra router and use it as a repeater station between your comp and the Speedtouch to achieve more distance... just an idea.
