(d) AB and O
With ABO bloodtyping, the AB parent will pass either A or B to the child [genotypes AO or BO]; A child w/ blood type O requires inheritance of O alleles from both parents which is not possible.

(d) AB and O

with the other ones the one not shown could be O for example if theres a person with a blood type of A then that means they either have a blood type of AO or AA so therefore any of the other ones could have produced a child with a blood type of O.

and AB blood type means that the parents blood type is AB. (it can't be ABO) and therefore if one half comes from each parent then the AB parent is going to give the child either A or B...(an O blood type means that that both parents have to give an O which equals OO)

D.

The A and the B gene are both dominant to the O gene. If one of the the parents is AB and the other is OO the the offspring must be AO (type A) or BO (type b). In the A and B, and the A and A cross if both of the parents are heterozygous (O at the other locus) O is a possible result of the fertilization. In the A and O cross if the A parent it is heterozygous O is a possible result.

It couldn't be D. Since one allele has to come from each paraent, and Type O is recessive, there's now way a parent with type AB blood can donate an allele for O.

As far as parents with blood type A and B, remember these people can still be heterozygous (AO and BO), so would still be able to donate the "O".

The answer is D because AB would yield either A or B to its offspring.
