So, breast cancer runs in my family. I'm 26 years old. I discovered that there was a slight dimpling/pulling in on the side of my nipple and strange white filled pockets that would leave wierd, lumpy scars on my left breast. My left breast also just became unusually larger than my right. I went into the doctor's to see what was up, and she told me that I need to be scheduled for an ultrasound and a biopsy....how scared should I be....'cause I'm seriously freaking out.

Breast cancer runs in my family too so I know how scary that can be! There is a really good chance it could something benign, but if it IS breast cancer, because you are catching it so early all they may have to do is cut out the lump. I know a woman who caught her breast cancer early and they just took out the lump, her breast was left intact, and she didn't have to do chemo or radiation!

i think you should find some peace in knowing that you went to your doctor as soon as you saw differences...many women dont know that they have cancer until it has already spread and it hits them as a shock....

the fact that it runs in your family is a factor in accepting that these differences that you found may have something to do with the cancer...early acceptance is very good in recovery....

lets just hope that the ultrasound and biopsy show minor changes that can be dealt with very soon and prevent cancer..

also dont freak out you have the support of all the women inyour family who have gone through it and trust me they must be filled with information....you have the perfect sources and support system

Your symptoms are unusual.

Apart from cancer, the things that can cause them are:

trauma and scarring
infection and scarring with resolution

Get the tests and if it's a nothing, then chill!

If it's cancer, you are doing the right thing and finding it EARLY!

don't worry it could be nothing. both my mom and her mom had breast cancer. I have had two lumps removed over the past 15 years and both were not cancer.
I'll keep you in my prayers and hope everything turns out all right.
