ok my old pc took a crap on me, but the hard drive is still good i just recently bought a new dell 410 xps but i still want all my pic/videos from the old HD someone told me i can hook it up as a slave driver. the cables on the dell are different there small instead of the big fat gray ribbion. so what can i do. please help .

Get the similar cable connection or buy an external hard disk casing and plug-in using usb

I had the same problem. My PC took a crap on me, and I bought a dell. I also wanted my pics and whatever off of it. So I took the old HD to a the computer depot, and told them I wanted to install it as a slave driver. They gave me a female cord to work with. Just look at the back of the old HD, and it will have the place in which you need to plug the adapter into, and notice it is opposite of the one you have, so go out and buy the right one. It wil jsut be opposite of the one on the dell. The old I believe is an outie, and the dell is a innie. That is how I can describe it. You also have to configure the back of the old HD to be a slave driver. It should show you on the top of teh HD on how to configure the drive.
