"A killing virus has swept the earth, sparing only children through the age of twelve. There is chaos everywhere, even in formely prosperous mid-America. Gangs and fierce armies of children begin to form almost immediately. It would be the same for the children on Grand Avenue but for Lisa, a yen-year-old girl who becomes their leader. Because of Lisa, they have food, even toys, in abundance. And now they can protect themselves from the fierce gangs that roam the neighborhoods. But for how long? Then Lisa conceives the idea of a fortress, a city in which the children could live safely and happily always, and she intends to lead them there"

Personally, if she is that advanced, get her started on high school materials. The library has lists of "must read" books for any generation (the internet does too.) A few I can think of are: Fahrenheit 451, Great Expectations, the Odyssey, some shakespeare like Much Ado About Nothing, or as simple as Romeo and Juliet. She'll need that background. My 15 yr old nephew is reading Fahrenheit 451 right now in school (one of my favs.) Be around incase she doesn't get a concept, or give her a dictionary to compliment the learning.

Good luck.

Twilight is a very poorly written book. If you would like another vampire book that is well written i would go for the work by Anne Rice, but if that is TOO advanced, i'd try The Darren Shan Saga, which is in the teen section. Be careful though, he has 2 sets of books out, make sure the first book you read is Cirque Du Freak i also enjoyed Of Mice & Men, and An Insepctor Calls (Though that is a play) Catcher in the Rye is another classic i couldn't put down

Whatever your cousin reads at this age may influence her tastes a lot in the future. I remember I was rummaging through the library and found Anne Rice's The Queen of the Damned, and it was all downhill from there. Actually, it was a really good series, and many of her books are pretty good reads, until the later years. Yes, there is some inappropriate material in there, but there probably will be in anything someone at an advanced reading level will encounter. Anne Rice's the Mayfair Witches trilogy is great!

I would recomend the His Dark Materials series (The Golden Compass), the Harry Potter series, Inkheart and Inkspell, the Artemis Fowl series, the Inheritance trilogy (Eragon) and the Maximum Ride series.

I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:

http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com

Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a "Reader's Choice" list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.

I hope this helps.
