History repeats itself, we all know that. But is there a need for bad history to repeat itself? Can't we do something to stop it?

History repeats itself because people don't learn the first time around.

There are two statements about history that weigh in here:

"Those that do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it."

"If there's anything that History teaches us, its that man doesn't learn from History."

Man forgets the things he should remember from the last time something bad happened. Its a part of humanity, we hold our guard for a while and then we forget or become lazy, and then we don't see the same thing happening again.

History will ALWAYS repeat itself- because the Earth revolves in cycles, therefore humans revolve in cycles with them.

One example I like to use is the Roman Republic vs. the republic we have now. Very similar form of government with a Senate, three branches, and checks and balances. Granted they were a little bit more barbaric, but the point is, they were proud to be "free" and to have the elite nobility run everything for them, as long as their wasn't another king. The truth is, our government is just like that now. The Romans had two consuls which one will out weight each other depending on the month, and the same with the President and the Vice President. The senate were always of the same wealthy families, along with the consuls (Bush, Clitons, hello?!)
Anyways, near the end of the Roman Republic a great deal of Civil Wars broke out, and eventually, an Empire with an Emperor was formed. Just wait for that to happen to the United States- because History repeats itself- and nothing is free.

The only reason "bad" history repeats itself is because people dont bother to learn from it.

A good example would be the French and Germans. The put up a line of defences along the boarder between them and the German nation. They did this even though the German army had marched through the Ardennes, which is primarily in Belgium and Luxembourg in WW1.

Nope, nothing, history will ALWAYS repeat itself, good examples -
-Quebec City - In two major battles there the commanders were both killed (the battles weren't that far apart of the time line either)
- Napoleon and Hitler, they both tried an invasion into Russia, didn't work, they both gave their soldiers winter coats and it practically froze the whole army

There is'nt a need for bad history to repeat itself. There is a way to stop it from happening and that is to create awareness of bad history and to protest when we feel that bad history will repeat itself.

ppl say history repeats itself because people dont learn form there pass mistakes. bad history doesn't have to repeat itself, and it can be prevented by learning our past mistakes, and to avoid doing it again.

I hope no but I kinda think yes. wars for example, there has apparently officially ( I don't know who is keeping score ) but only about 75 years of peace in all the time of human recorded history. fine but the point here is that every body and his uncle knows that war is bad. so why the wars when everyone knows they are wrong. plus one time I went to a pool hall. the owner was hapkido black belt instructor and liked me. well for every reason I stepped out side . I saw a mob getting ready to pound out this guy, I ran up to this guy and he said in bad broken English that he wanted a light for his cigarette. I said come with me and I will give you a light. I brought him in the pool hall and said sorry I lied I don't smoke ( didn't at the time ) I told the owner what happened. every one knew the owner. later that night the RCMP came and turned dogs loose on the mob. my point is to complicate human relations if you. have twenty people together, you don't have twenty people. the group itself becomes some kind of person or animal and I think this thing has started and caused many wars and people get blamed for this. the fellow said he was a russian sailor and was told his buddy might be a commissar. he said the russians told him canadians were murders. he said he ditched his russian companion and wanted to see canadians for himself. we agreed to meet a macdonalds restaurant and play chess he never showed up and I never saw him again. So I hope the best for the world and the best for everyone but I wouldn't hold my breathe or bet on it. plus it is so easy to bad and it is so hard to do good. Good by Good luck

It must be repeated for mankind to learn, but they will still be ignorant and not learn from it.

No. Nothing is original and our species appears unable to evolve, no matter what we invent.

The more things change; the more they remain the same.
