Also, do you think thanksgiving is a good holiday to have, or not? I see both sides of it, and will explain my views after seeing some others.

These are my views on the holiday:

It is a wonderful holiday, of course, because it brings people together and reminds us to be thankful for what we have. All too commonly people pray and wish for things, but don't appreciate what already exists in their lives. But honestly we should be expressing these sorts of gratitude every single day, not just because a holiday is entitled by it. So in most senses, the holiday is fantastic, but for me at least, it really shows some nature of people, and how ungrateful a lot of them are for the rest of the year. I think the pinnacle of thanksgiving is just bringing the family (or friends) together. It's a good reminder to people too though.

Rebuilding my life after a horrible abusive ex-husband, and now having a wonderful new husband. Having family close by, our health, the area we live in, thankful my only grandparent is still alive at 98 to see more days, good friends, the ability to be able to buy food and pay bills, and the biggest thing...laughter and love. At least it's one day out of the year to sit back and be thankful for what you do have and what you could do better for others.

After my family arrived and my in-laws came over, we all sat down to enjoy the meal and have a friendly discussion which turned out to be a "debate" about the family will. During the discussion about the will, the bird woke up and flew away...

There always seems to be room at family gatherings for some type of conversation that eventually leads to a discussion about the will...

Great fun...!

That my whole family drove/flew a long way to come together. For my wonderful relationship with my boyfriend and parents. That my emotional health is stable.
I think it's a great holiday...unlike Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwanaa, its a holiday that isn't divided by religion (or even race)--most people (I'm talking about America here obviously) celebrate it, and that's really nice.

I was thankful that my crazy SIL is getting married next weekend so we didn't have to drive 3+ hours to see all of them until then and I had a nice peaceful day with my hus and son and I got to cook and eat food that doesn't taste greasy and strange (like my MIL makes). Normally, my MIL won't let anyone help her with the cooking.
It's Thanksgiving. Of course, it is a good holiday.
