This time of year the Yorks Coast has the Spring Tides And suffer waves as high as 40 feet.In these conditions it is scary for lifeboats let alone a small boat.Guess they were the know it all locals who allow kids to jump in the waves and try and beat them.Try telling them it is dangerous and they become abusive.I have seen it and heard it.

I don't understand it myself. The coastguard said that it was a force 8 gale, who in their right mind would set out from a harbour in such conditions? Not only did they risk and lose their lives, but they put at risk the people who are their to rescue them. It's not as if they were already out at sea and got into difficulties, the difficulties were there from the outset. However I feel for the family of those who died.

Its a really sad story even the boats name Last Call gives me the creeps, the weather must have been bad in Yorkshire today, maybe they thought they would be safe. Dont know what that bloke Dennis is all about

A tragic incident possibly the result of over-confidence. It can be very difficult turning a boat around in heavy seas and they were probably shocked at the change in conditions after clearing the shelter of Whitby harbour.
Very sad.

It beggars belief doesn't it.
Why take the risks.I'd always rather be safe than sorry.
