Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) was a professional wrestling promotion that was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1992 by Tod Gordon, and closed when his successor, Paul Heyman, declared bankruptcy in April 2001.

The company became known for its loyal fan base as well as its tendency to push the envelope with storylines. The group has showcased many different styles of professional wrestling, ranging from lucha libre to hardcore wrestling.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) bought the rights to ECW and its library after its 2001 closure and revived the promotion in a full-time fashion on June 13, 2006 with a weekly television series on Sci Fi Channel in the United States, FOX8 in Australia, SIC Radical in Portugal and Sky Sports 3 in the United Kingdom. In 2005 and 2006, WWE promoted an ECW-brand event called ECW One Night Stand, and in June 2006, it became a separate brand of WWE programming, along with RAW and SmackDown!

Um ECW has been part of the WWE every since Vince brought it back. Vince owns ECW in case you did not know that.
They needed more wrestlers on the show so they could keep doing a show. The easiest way was to use smackdown wrestlers since both shows are done on the same night and they travel together.

The original ECW went bankrupt in 2001 with Paul Heyman selling the company to Vince. As part of the deal Heyman got to stay on in the new WWE version of ECW.It was basically sell or disappear.
ECW is the 3rd roster on WWE & the least successful.Check out last year's Dismember to December ppv.The ratings on the Sci-Fi channel have been going down.Vince with Vickie Guerrero & Armando Estrada hit on the idea of merging both for the tv editions of Sdown & ECW.Which is why we see the crossovers of wrestlers every week. It's to bump up the ratings of both rosters.

the rationalization why the massive tutor connect ECW is via the fact he could no longer finished with the WWE superstars. while is the final time he won a WWE champsion . 3 years in the past or something. he's huge for no reason because of the fact the folk who're smaller than him are extra desirable. like the Rock, Triple H, and John Cena. large tutor sucks and that why he went to ECW.
