First off sounds as if the person who wrote this has a ax to grind against southern people .
As far as Republican being racist , Seems to me Bush has Blacks in a high position of power than any Democrat even Clinton , ie: Powell and Rice
As Jeff said Republicans want people to stand on their own two feet , Democrats want people to depend on them for everything , so who is being racist Dem's think Blacks are not up to taking care of themselves , hence Affirmative Action

That article represents one man's opinion - it is backed up by his conclusions of certain events which are very debatable at the least.
And, worse, his overall point is lost when compared to today's political arena.
It's pretty lame to try and blame an entire political party on a racist strategy, but also pretty typical of the rhetoric coming from the far left loonies.

I don't really agree with the author but, that's only because I don't think that there is that much of a concerted effort coming from the Republicans. I think it's more just personal racism and pundits pandering to that element.

Republicans want all people to become self sufficient.

Democrats give people continual handouts so they won't become so.
