I can answer this from personal experience. YES. they do. I am 15 and, as many people say, way to mature for my age. Both in a good and bad way. I lost my virginity when i had just turn 13. I stated smoking weed in the 7th grade and eventually moved on to hard drugs.
Its both a good and i bad thing. Now that i've changed my ways and used my maturity for older things and can talk to kids younger than me and let them know the dangers that lie ahead out there if they grow up to fast.
Its good for kids to be aware of safe sex and the things that can come from it, because the fact in reality is that kids are REALLY ARE GROWING UP TOO FAST. My little sister is in the 7th grade and i hear kids from her school talkin about sex and their first time and all kinds of crap like that.
Young kids are very impressionable and they think its cool to get involved and to be grown. But its only a disaster waiting to happen.

Knowledge is power and unfortunately kids are using it the wrong way.

As a parent I would have to say yes, but then if I had my way I wouldn't want my daughter to know about sex at all until she is 21, but thats not an option. I feel that I have had to open and frank with her from a young age, just to combat alot of the myths and peer pressure that is out there. As a result we've talked about sex, STDs, changing bodies, feelings , the whole gamut. We live in a society where children have access to information at the touch of a button, some good, bad, and just plain dangerous, as such it is the duty of parents to give information to their children that can balance out what they see and hear, as knowing and understanding are two different things.

It all depends on what age you're talking about and what your idea of "too much" is. Some kids nowadays know a lot about sex and drugs and other kids don't know squat about them. I think that the more kids know about these things the better off they will be. It's not going to stop some kids from having sex or using drugs, but it's not going to encourage these things either. It's important for kids to know facts rather than hear half-baked and usually wrong information from other kids about sex and drugs.

sometimes but most often they dont know enough. the thing is you have to teach them the right way first so they are prepared to take on the world. knowing about sex does not lead to it but it helps prevent them from being exploited by other people. the right time to know is when they come up to you and ask you about it.

we live in an age where we cherish children for being innocent yet look down on them for being ignorant. essentially not knowing is worse than knowing.

Yes! I believe that they do. I am only 15, but I hear so much stuff in the hallways that I shouldn't even know what it means. Sex sells, and people today are only in it for the money. Companies are sacrificing our children's youth to make a quick buck!

i think that children think they know more than they actually do.
uhm. like.. some know too much about certain things, but not enough about other things, with internet, and older siblings, and different things that they come into contact with, it is quite probable that they definitely know too much. and sometimes they just hear something, and the dont know what it means, but they say it anyways, making it seem like they know more.

I think so. I think some kids are exposed to things they shouldn't know about way to soon. My son who was in first grade last year came home one day and said one of his friends had sex with one of his sister's friends. Even letting your kids listen to the wrong music can give them ideas! My son and his best friends favorite song is "I'm in love with the bartender", which talks about I will take you home, they have no idea what it means but still!

yes

especially these days how media portray women

girls are getting sexualized at such a young age and its not good for them...psychologically

By doing so its like robbing away their childhood, childhood is suppose to be fun and carefree, not full of pressure to become the 'sexiest' girl around
