Big koi love lettuce, too, just toss a head in occasionally.

So does this mean you no longer need to know about pond plants?
Draght! Thats the 1 thing I do know!
That's my hobby!
I use water lillys , parrot feather, irisis, pickeral, dwarf cattails, dwarf papyrus, water hyacinth, golden jenny (koi love to eat) and anacharis.
The koi will also eat the young roots from the water hyacinth causing poor growth and no blooms. So protect the roots until they are well established.
Feed your koi or goldfish slices of oranges or ruby red grapefruit they love it. If you have koi.

You should use lilypads in your pond, it seemed to work for me, but depending on the climate you may want to reconsider.
