When I was in high school I often chose not to say the Pledge. Nothing happened as long as I stood up when everyone else did. When I didn't people looked at me funny and wanted to know what was up. But there was no official/school reperccusions.

We have no oath of allegiance for children. There is a Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. But, there's no penalty connected to anyone's refusal to say it. The only oath of allegiance, per se, is the oath taken upon enlistment in the armed forces or accepting a commission as an officer from the President. The ones taking that oath are not children.

No one is obligated, but if you're an American, why wouldn't your allegiance lie with your own country?
