I changed doctor's because of this same thing...they showed an empty sac...and didn't bother explaining that this is normal. It scared me sooo badly! I had an "empty" looking sac at 6 weeks. When I changed doctor's, my new doctor said that,,,it appear's empty...because the baby is way too little to even see. Your HCG levels will double every 7 days if it's a normal pregnancy. So when I went back a couple of weeks later...it was amazing how much it had grown just in 2 weeks. You could see it's heartbeat! I'm now 34 weeks pregnant with baby #1! Just stay as calm as possible..stay off of your feet as much as possible and eat lots healthy foods and drink lots of water. The 1st 3 months are most important...and most dangerous for having a miscarriage so take extra special care of yourself! Do not lift anything or push yourself like you normally would. Let someone else do things that require lifting, pushing, or anything to get your heartrate up. Good luck to you!

I think that sometimes when the fetus is only 4 weeks, it is too small to be able to view inside the sac. The fact that you have a sac is a great sign though, because when I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks, they were not even able to find a sac on the screen. If you are not bleeding or cramping I wouldn't be concerened. Just take it easy and relax. Sit on the couch and prop your feet up as much as you can and wait for your next appointment. If bleeding or severe cramping occur, give your doctor a call.

You are six weeks according to your last period , but it doesnt work like that your pregnant for almost 10 months and really counts 2 weeks after you last period ! confusing I know ! This pregnancy I was 8 weeks according to my last period had a scan and I was 5 weeks and 5 days .. I dont think you have lost your baby your just early to pick up a bub in the sac yet !

They told my sister inlaw the same thing at 6 weeks , sure enough two weeks later there was a baby
BE POSITIVE ! Please just hang in there

right my wife has passed me the computer to answer this as i explained it to her about ten million times when she was pregnant!!

what the scan is showing is correct as you have 2 dates
1 - lmp (last menstural period)
2 - gestation

you are counting 6 weeks from the first day of your last period lmp the scan shows gestation or from when the baby starts growing which happens 2 weeks apx after lmp so you dont have to worry as the scan can only show baby growth which can only happen from conception and implantation!!

you will be fine and good luck with ya babs!

Oct 3rd can't be right if you had a period on October 10th. You ovulate/conceive about 2 weeks after your period. It could be that your dates are off and you are not really 6 1/2 weeks pregnant.

if your gyno/ob is not answering all your questions and this one being a very basic "am i still pregnant" one i would suggest you change doctors
is the doctor talking in "doctor speak" and maybe you are not understanding what he/she is saying?
i always take some one with me .....so they can ask questions that i might be to confused or upset to ask and also another set of ears to hear what is being said is good so you dont second guess your self
are you in Canada? toronto has some great obs

This happened to a friend of mine and I believe the term used was a blotted ovum.Something just goes wrong in conception and eventually leads to miscarriage or a D&C.Sorry your going through this but if it makes you feel better a couple mths later my friend concieved a beautiful baby girl she carried to term

I'm not a doctor, but I presume the empty sac measuring 4 weeks means that you lost your baby at 4 weeks without realizing. If this is the case, I'm very sorry for you and wish you all the best in the world.

'Ola', you have copied my answer entirely!?! Have a little originality dear......
