Is the X-Files movie "Fight the Future" any good? My bf loves the X-Files but hasn't seen the movie. I'm not sure if I should buy it for him. It's not out for rent anywhere. Thanks!

I loved the XFiles series but I couldn't get into the aliens and govt conspiracy episodes. The movie focuses on that, so I didn't personally enjoy it as much as other people did for that reason. But it was well done nonetheless.

Yes, it's good, especially if you are a fan of the show. It's probably my favorite show (just giving you a frame of reference...I own all 9 seasons and the movie on DVD's). It's pretty easy to find on-line, with a little luck someone will have it in stock. I bought mine through overstock.com, but I've also seen it available on amazon and a couple of other sites (overstock had the best price).
Anyway, the movie is really a very good adaptation of the show to the big screen. X-Files lends itself a good transition from small to big screen, anyway, because of the visual style and expansive story-telling used in the mythology. The movie plays just like an extended mythology episode, but you don't have to know a lot about the mythology to get into it (it helps, though, if you know what The Syndicate is, who the Well Manicured Man is, why the agents aren't on the X-Files at that point in the time line [between the 5th and 6th seasons], etc.). Definitely worth it for any fan of the show, though, and not a bad sci-fi movie for the average sci-fi fan.

I LOVE the X-Files. I thought the movie was okay. Since it was a movie, and the storyline had to be completed in 121 minutes, I thought it seemed a little rushed. However, I would consider it to be a must-see for any X-Files fan. It's part of the experience, ya know? Amazon.com sells it new for about $7 or $8, or used for as little as $3 or $4. (of course that doesn't include shipping)

I would definitely reccomend it. It's also great for Mulder/Scully 'shippers (those who wanted them to become romantically involved), because of the infamous 'hallway scene.'
It's really a great movie, for X-Files fans, or those who have never seen the show. It's scary in some places, and has some funny moments. Plus Mulder and Scully both look extra fabulous!
You should definitely buy it for him - And maybe he'd like the DVDs of the entire series, too! I got mine on ebay for the very reasonable price of $90.
