If so, then isn't Y!A purposely allowing us, to NOT follow Community Guidlines, if we choose to give a thumbs down to someone? I don't really care either way, I'm just curious what you guys/ladies think.

It is just saying you either disagree w/the question and/or think it violates the Yahoo community guidlines. I can see what you are getting at though, and it is a good point.

Hey, Good to see you scurrying around again! I think a lot of times its not the asker that gives the down thumbs, In fact I often see them adding that all the downthumbs are NOT from them. I guess that some folks just go around to questions and just go down the line ridding the page of all the competion, so they dont see any other answers but their own. Sad but true. Probably a lot of younger, less "developed" people do this. I rarely ever give down thumbs unless the answer is really bad or offensive, but i often up thumb eveyone who took the time to answer me. As you said, I asked for an opinion, and I might not agree with them but they gave one, so thats fair play.

It's saying their answer is bad and unnecessary. It could be insulting them if they put their heart and soul into the question...
But also sometimes people thumbs down if they just don't agree with the answer, so no it's not insulting because it's merely a difference in opinion

No, it just shows disapproval of an answer. It doesn't affect the answerer in any way.
Too bad the "thumbs-down-stalkers" are too stupid to realize that!

I hate the thumbs up/down thing. It sways the question asker and has no purpose other than that.

It just means that you either don't agree with the person's answer or you don't like the answer as well. Although it's people who answer my questions who usually give the ratings and not me. Go figure!!!!

no I don't think so.I just think some people do it for lack of nothing better to do.I believe, that if you have nothing good to say about someone, then don't say anything at all.I'm not sure why they even have that option on this YA

I don't believe so, all you're saying is that you don't agree with that answer. It's happened to me quite a few times and it doesn't bother me in the least bit. :)
