Once you get the approval letter in your favor, it should take no more than a month.. to my understanding checks are received on the 1st and 3rd, although I had a friend who received hers on the 20th something of very month.

Usually six months. I was approved for disability compensation in May, and started receiving checks in November. The first check was retroactive.
