Without trying to sound too insultury, in all seriousness, for one to belong to the Flat Earth Society in this day and age, besides having to be IQ-challenged, one would also have to have their eyes sewn shut. That is to say, there have been literally thousands upon thousands of images of the ROUND and SPHERICAL earth taken from space by a multitude of spacecraft and interstellar probes launched from several nations and even international space consortiums. Is there some kind of vast, round-earth conspiracy that is meant to hide from us the fact that our planet is just as flat as an uncooked pizza dough? Even when anyone looking up into the sky can see that both the moon and the sun are somehow round? I mean, stop and think about how prepostorous that is for a minute!

NO because we would be attracted to the object with the most gravity in the area. This also explains why the planet would be a sphere rather than a flat surface. Plus there is photographic proof and people seeing the earth as round. You must be stoned to even believe anything like that.

Rolling off was always touted as one of the advantages of the FLAT Earth: sail to the edge, fall off: you're in space! no need for rockets.

Very few people actually believe that the Earth is flat (a few thousands, mostly all of them are English speaking) but a lot more see a lot of fun in spreading this information around as it might prevent others from thinking logically (they are mind terrorists).

There are just too many things that show Earth to be spherical that even the Greeks knew that, over 2,200 years ago.

I guess the concept of gravity has never been explained to you. In order for you to "roll off" the side of the earth, there would have to be a force pulling you away from the earth instead of towards it. This obviously is not the case, or things such as leaves in the fall would not fall to the earth, but instead would fall towards this other magical thing that would also make us roll off teh side of the earth.

Gravity is not the force pulling us "down." It is the force pulling us to the center of the earth. We simply use the term down because, relative to us, down is the center of the earth. That is why people on the relative opposite side of the earth do not fall into the sky, they are also being pulled to the center of the sphere, just as we are.

Well unless your friend's living on Discworld I'm pretty sure he's wrong. He's one proof that Earth is round: Look at the horizon, especially when there's something headed towards it like a boat or car. Notice that as the object gets closer to the horizon, it slowly starts to disappear. Well when the object passes the horizon (of your perspective), the object will competely be unseen. Even if you use the most powerful telescope. This horizon effect is all due to the curvature of the Earth.

A lot of people unfortunatly, Google the Flat Earth Society, but the Earth if definatly round. Gravity pulls us towards the center so even if you are at the south pole, the Earth will pull you "up" towards the center.

um... did you ever see pictures of the earth? It's round. Not flat and there's a little thing called "gravity" that keeps us from not falling off.

Look at the Moon. --See how round it is? --See anything rolling off it?

Rolling off sure beats falling off, doesn't it?!
(semi-seriously, ok maybe quarter-seriously, what would start us rolling, new improved sideways-gravity?)
