the name Deacon for a boy?

I really like it. I think its cute, and yet a man would wear it as well as a baby. Easy to pronounce, uncommon you wont find tons of them in school. Very good choice.

I really like it. It's on my possibilities list. For me, I like it because it is my fiance's best friend's last name. I can't stand his first or middle names (Eric and Roberto), so I think Deacon is a modern, cool way for me to honor my fiance's connection with his best friend (they were raised almost as siblings) without using a name I hate.

I think Deacon has a slight religious lean to it because of the church deacon thing, but I also think it's a very unusual choice that has the nicknames Deke and Drake that will sound quirky on a boy, but masculine and dignified on an adult.

I like it quite a bit.

Despite Reese Witherspoon's choice of the name for her son, it has *not* skyrocketed up the popularity charts. (It was just 687 last year. Ava, on the other hand, surged from 289 to 5 since the actress chose it for her daughter in 1999.) And yet, since Deacon has been used by a prominent celeb for her kiddo, it will strike most people as familiar, and a reasonable choice for a name.

I'd use it without reservation.

I've always quite liked it, but given the literal religious "word" association, I prefer similar Declan or Duncan. Not that a deacon would be a bad association in the least (not what I'm trying to say LOL). Just that it seems a bit similar to naming a child Priest or Reverend, though I realize not to the same extent. Just a personal aversion, I suppose, though I wouldn't find it at all odd on someone else's child. ;)

Personally, I like it, though I would never name my child Deacon. Maybe my dog.

I like Deacon and Declan. I think they are very nice solid Irish names

It reminds me of King of Queens, but I do like the name for a boy.

Just don't go off naming a girl that!
