I've heard several people say that Matt Holliday got robbed of the MVP, I've also heard that Jimmy rightfully got the MVP Award...so i thought i'd get together the complete stats of these two players and looking at the facts, i want to know what you guys really think.......

NO, but he did lead them to the playoffs for the first time in 14 years and the playoffs don't even count in the MVP votes

Jimmy Rollins deserved it 150%!!!
Stats mean nothing when you are looking at 2 such different parks as coors field and citizens bank park. holliday had those *inflated* stats because his home is the most hitter friendly ball park in the major league.
second - people say RBI should have been the deciding factor, but how do you expect a leadoff hitter to have an outstanding amount?
third - Rollins took care of HARDER offensive things. yes, hitting a homerun takes skill, but triples, and stolen bases need power and a lot of speed. rollins also proved he can hit a homer or 30
fourth - Rollins made that comment, it may have been to bring attention to himself or the team - but hey it worked. at least he had the courage to.
fifth - The phillies had A LOT of trouble this year with injuries and losing key players for months at a time, but rollins played in every game. While howard was out, he kept the team alive, and more importantly - when utley was out [who many thought had a chance to be MVP at the time] he really carried through for the team.
sixth and finally - shortstop is a MUCH more demanding position than left field, and to have .985 fielding percentage?!!! that is absolutely amazing.
so what if holliday had a tiny bit better stats, rollins played in a more more pitcher friendly park. Yes holliday had a remarkable year, but rollins had a year for the ages and you cant let that go unrecognized

When you set aside the postseason - which cannot count in MVP voting since they vote BEFORE the post season
AND IF you take out the extra game that that Rockies needed to get into the post season and all the stats that came with it -
And when you add in that JRol played in EVERY game this season -
Then you can see clearly that Rollins truly deserved the title. Mr Holliday did a great job this season, but he is an average fielder and the MVP is not Just a Hitters title - it is an all around players title. . .
And as much as I like talking about our MVP, perhaps this question ought to be left alone for a while - just a suggestion?!

I agree 100% that Rollins deserved the MVP award. Without Rollins the Phillies don't win the division. It's all about the regular season. It seems many "fans" of baseball haven't figured that out as yet. As far as fielding percentage, you can't possibily compare and infieldter with an outfielder. A short stop has infinately more chances during the course of a season than any outfielder.
The fact that a leadoff hitter (Rollins) can drive in 94 runs is absolutely incredible. Let's not forget too that Rollins belongs to the 20,20,20,20 club. With at least 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases.
For me it's a no brainer. Rollins IS the MVP of the National League.

Jimmy Rollins. He compiled all of the stats you listed above and won the gold glove. Holliday had a great season, but Rollins was just a little better.

If it were just numbers a computer could pick the winner. There are always several good candidates for these awards and Rollins is a good pick just as Holliday would have been.
