I bought a devise called 'Skip Doctor' it uses filtered water to repair scratched Cd's and DVDs, I have used it on a DVD a friend gave me which froze, and repaired it (He later wanted it back to give to another friend) I bought a CD from Ebay which played OK on CD player, but which turned off the computer when I tried to play it on it. There must have been a fault with the visual parts for a computer, putting it through the Skip Doctor repaired it.
I don't understand how it works, but it does effectively remove scratches, and re-covers the disc. My one is hand operated.
They say it can be used with normal tap water, but they recommend the filtered water they supply.
