Do you think the following it's not the best year: four grand slam finals, three grand slam wins, 5 master series finals and 2 master series wins, 1 master cup win ,12 atp finals and 8 atp titles, holding #1 year-end ranking, reaching 200 consecutive weeks as #1, a record 10 million dollars in prize money and for the first time a winning record over nemesis Nadal in one year (3-2).

This is one the greatest tennis years ever for Fed. I say he doesn't need a "comeack". It's actually quite the opposite - I would be more than happy to repeat the same for the next year.
As far as losing to 8 different players - it absolutely means nothing. You know why? Except for one, all these losses occured outside the grand slams. He has been the most consistent tennis player ever at a grand slam: 10 straight grand slam finals and counting. The closest somebody came to this was four straight finals.

Also, I hope this puts it in perspective: In the last 10 consecutive grand slams Fed only lost twice to the same player. So the greatest players ever are measured by grand slam results and nothing else. Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Can he comeback from what? From winning 3 slams, getting to the RG final, winning 2 Masters series and getting to the final of 3 others so on and so on? The man got at least to the final in 12 of the 16 tournaments he played during the year !!!
For the sake of the sport of tennis (and there's no bigger fan of Federer's game than me) ... but if this is a bad year, then I pray there is no comeback !

Yes he will comeback and be better than ever. Personally I think Federer works better without having a coach. He can be his own coach. He has lots of experience and has no need for a coach. He will not lose as many times as he did this year and he will prove that he is still the player everybody wants to beat but can't.

sampras used to lose a lot more than 8 times a year...even in the 4th round of the US Open to Jaime Yzaga (WHO???).

it's funny how we consider 3 grand slam titles as a bad year. The last person to do that was Mats Wilander. Federer has done it 3 times in 4 years.

um news flash..he's human! he doesn't need to come back or anything. he'll be lucky if his year will be half as good next year. he won 3 grand slams and the year end champions. what do you want from him? and how boring would mens tennis be if he didn't lose here and there?
