Here are some ideas from the website about.com. I hope they help.

Select the topic of your essay.
Choose the central idea, or thesis, of your essay. For example: Information technology has revolutionized the way we work.
Outline your essay into introductory, body and summary paragraphs.
The introductory paragraph begins with an interesting sentence. For example: Home workers have grown from 150,000 to over 12 million in the past 5 years thanks to the wonders of the computer.
After this first sentence, add your thesis statement from above.
Use one sentence to introduce every body paragraph to follow. For example: The Internet has made this possible by extending the office into the home.
Finish the introductory paragraph with a short summary or goal statement. For example: Technological innovation has thus made the traditional workplace obsolete.
In each of the body paragraphs (usually two or three) the ideas first presented in the introductory paragraph are developed.
Develop your body paragraphs by giving detailed information and examples. For example: When the Internet was first introduced it was used primarily by scientists, now it is common in every classroom.
Body paragraphs should develop the central idea and finish with a summary of that idea. There should be at least two examples or facts in each body paragraph to support the central idea.
The summary paragraph summarizes your essay and is often a reverse of the introductory paragrah.
Begin the summary paragrah by quickly restating the principal ideas of your body paragraphs. For example: The Internet in the home, benefits and ease of use of modern computer systems...
The penultimate sentence should restate your basic thesis of the essay. For example: We have now passed from the industrial revolution to the information revolution.
Your final statement can be a future prediction based on what you have shown in the essay. For example: The next step: The complete disappearance of the workplace.

I hope this helps.

Hi Samantha. Start with making a list of the things you are thankful for. Then, under each item, think of one or more reasons why you are thankful for it. You now have the 'guts' of your paper. Just write it out long-hand.

You may want to start with an opening paragraph. Use a quote or interesting idea to draw the reader into reading more about being thankful.

Make your closing paragraph a quick summary or review of the things you are thankful for. Maybe an 'overview' idea (e.g. "In closing, I realize all of the things I am thankful for cannot be bought - my family, my friends, my health. Maybe the thing I am most thankful for, is understanding that concept!"). Again, closing with another quote about giving thanks or appreciating the things we have, can make a powerful conclusion.

In the middle of your paper, just share several things you appreciate and why! You can make each one a paragraph.

Best wishes and good luck.

In your opening paragraph, group and introduce the main three things that you are thankful for and a brief reason why. This can be sort of categorical, for instance "I am grateful for my family because they really support me." "I am grateful for finding my boyfriend because he makes my life complete." I am grateful that I survived my first year of college because it was really hard.

Then write an expanded 2nd paragraph telling how they support you, You must have at least two reasons and three are better.

Do the same with paragraphs 3 & 4.

Finally have a concluding paragraph that refers to these things but sums up the spirit of the Thankgiving holiday.

Before you start your essay, on a rough piece of paper you could do a plan or mind map of all the points you can think of relating to your topic. Start with an introduction saying what you are going to discuss, then go on to your main points, and finally write a conclusion to summarise it.
