when i press start game on single player it says starting server then my laptop freezes

Correct on the graphics card in the laptop BUT you can upgrade the video card.
Go to the manufacturers site and check on options for your make and model. Some have higher RAM graphics cards available.

probably because the graphics card in your laptop is not powerful enough to play bf2. you cannot upgrade the graphics card in a laptop.
