Black Friday is a like a traditional holiday to some. For me it is the best day of the year and treat it seriously. Dont take someone who wants to shop for themselves if your looking for gifts for others. It can bring out the worst in some. Yesterday when i went, some old lady hit me with her basket and did not even say sorry though i think people are more nice this time than last year. If it is for our economy a big money spender day. Some places last for 2 days long some 3 days so it is a big impact on peoples bank accounts. I felt bad for the guy at kmart he was gettting mad cause this lady refused to look things for herself and used the worker as her butler and demanded this and that. I just waited patiently while this crowd in electronics went down then asked politely where something was.

It occurs the day after thansgiving usually starting at 4AM to closing times. Black Friday may be as early as the 23rd and as late as the 29th of November. Black Friday is not an official holiday.

Sales are called "Doorbuster Deals"

Although Black Friday, as the first shopping day after Thanksgiving, has served as the unofficial beginning of the Christmas season at least since the start of the modern Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the term "Black Friday" has been traced back only to the 1970s. "Black Friday" was originally so named because of the heavy traffic on that day

You have to watch though some things may be advertised for promo purposes only and really are not a doorbuster sale.

Black Friday is a commercialized way to get everyone out shopping by selling 6 TV's (or other typically expensive merchandise) for a major bargain. The biggest shopping day of the year because Christmas is around the corner, Thanksgiving is past and most of us have the day off and want to save some money doing our Christmas shopping.

It's a wonderful thing for our economy because so many people participate and once the shopping starts you just don't stop until you have checked almost everyone off your Christmas list. Ka'ching for the business owners and corporations as well as the government who taxes are paid to. Not to mention that you will need lunch to continue your shopping experience and gas to make it to all the stores. It boosts the economy and gets us ready for Christmas. But not me, it makes me avoid any and all stores and just want to stay home and put up our Christmas tree and decorations while listening to Christmas music.

Black Friday is the day when all the worst traits are brought out of people. There should be cops patrolling the lines at the stores to make sure people don't kill each other.

I don't give a durn about the effect on the economy, I'm more concerned about the effect on people. It makes them greedy, crazy, and stupid.

Black Friday is in November, the day after Thanksgiving Day that marks the informal beginning of the Christmas shopping period. The majority of major retailers have large marketing sales to begin the vacation shopping season.

Black Friday has become that popular in standard traditionals shops that individuals line up for hours and there is lots of push and shoving and even physical violence. Why would you wait in a long line, be pushed and shoved simply to conserve a couple of bucks when online websites like Amazon have massive Black Friday sales and it's a stress free environment.
