The manager's position is a JOB not an art. Heart and soul counts for nothing unless you have experience and competency to do that job. England needs a manager who can discipline and organise the squad, and I think at the moment a foreign manager is needed for the job because they are more competent. I just cannot see a single English manager getting England all the way to glory.

Afraid its a great romantic solution but very unpractible,he has no experience in managing and i am afraid heart and soul alone dosnt win you tournaments .He would though make a good second in command. We dont need a fair tale we need results so it has to be ,Big Sam,Curbs,Harry or the Special One to sort this mess out.
The new England manager needs to be strong and experienced enough to deal with egos and not afraid to ruffle feathers, whether its the players ,the media,or the F.A. not to be worried about upsetting people about tatics, if a player or system needs changing then change it, you could see after 15 or 20 mins last weds that 1 up front wasnt working so change it.No favours, earn your right with every game to wear that white shirt.

Not at all. He might have the passion and SOME know how about good players but why get someone to manage a NATIONAL team when they dont have any experience? England will only go FURTHER in the ground if they pick someone with no experience. It's just common sense.........and just an opinion.

He will not stand a chance. That is a job for big boys, at least for a well educated man. Shearer is neither.
If he gets the job it means the FA is desperate and cannot find anyone better. Shearer will be a perfect repetition of Kevin Keegan's "success"... he resigned after the game with Portugal (and for that matter it was a game that forced Shearer to resigned too from his place in the national team when they lost 3-2 to Portugal.
Shearer is a bad choice if you love England and a great choice if you don't.

sooner or later possibly yet no longer basically yet. it could be very unfair to place him in this way of place before he proves he can do the job at club point first. i think of he will finally end up being supervisor of Newcastle before too long and if he does a solid job there, then i think of in time he will extra effective than probably be a candidate for the england positioned up. precise now England want somebody with experience and who isn't a "particular" guy and who might benefit instant comprehend from the gamers and that i'm able to basically think of of two possibilities....Jose Maurinho or Martin O'Neill.

Shearer is in class of his own. He is scum. The man could talk a glass eye to sleep and fell foul of the 'big-fish, small-pond syndrome' by going to Newcastle rather than being 'one of' the stars at Manchester United. His ego would get in the way and his tactics are frankly no better than a drunkard's, wallowing his sorrows after another calamity by England.
People talk about passion. Look at Arsene Wenger - devoid of passion. The ultimate example that a purely tactical approach can work, and that's what we need. We should hire a foreigner would can come over and set us straight with an impartial but firm hand.

Nobody could doubt his passion for his country, but I think it will take more than passion to be a successful manager of the England squad, I think the players would respond well to him as he is very well respected in the footballing world however he would need to have at least some management experience to be effective in the position.
So therefore, my answer would unfortunately be No, not yet anyway. But maybe one day..

It doesn't matter if he has his heart and soul in the game the players haven't!
Their was one song missing at wembley, "Were not coming anymore." You and I, if needed would be expected to die for our country. the England team were too busy thinking about dying their hair. I must admit I felt ashamed of their lack of commitment. Gerrard is a giant for Liverpool, i would push him 100 miles in a wheelbarrow for him to play for my team,(West Ham) yet for England he looks like a pygmy. I will never, I promise, never ever, spend £56:00 again on England sheep, lions they are not! I wish you well. Terry.

Mate it takes more than that to be a manager, Shearer has no passion he's boring mate to be honest he's a loser he's never won anything in his football career, thats the last thing England needs, they need a bit of inspiration, Shearer

'once bitten twice shy' . we should appoint a world class manager like klinsmann, hiddink, capello or 'the special one' but i think he will be good to be assistant for england because we cannot let all foreign in our squad
