I've made a figure out of paper mache and would like to turn it into a latex mold/mould so as to cast multiple plaster figures.

Will the liquid latex damage the paper mache? Will this work? Has anybody tried it?

Use the, "The... shellac, which will... leave a waterproof finish."

But not the, "You may wish to apply a thin coat of Pam or vaseline to help release." They are oil based and therefore bad for latex and rubber. Instead, use some spray silicone.

The traditional is shellac, which will coat the paper and leave a waterproof finish. You may wish to apply a thin coat of Pam or vaseline to help release. I have not done paper mache, but I have done a lot of latex copying off of other materials like natural wood surfaces and latex stick gloriously without treatment.

Primer can take a long time to dry, but it should eventually harden again. Use your hair dryer to help it dry faster, or set it next to a fan for a couple of more hours, 2 hours really wasn't enough.

This may work, although I've not tried it . I would suggest spraying it first with a clear sealer.

bambi is right...seal it well before trying to make a mould from it.
