I have read some great advice on here but am still confused. My plan was just to remember where the wires were on the old one and match it to the new switch, but my house was built in 1963 and the switches look way different. One socket has three switches on it (2 are 3 way switches) with blue red and yellow, and maybe even brown? going through them. Any good suggestions of resources to figure this out?

If you are not familiar with wiring, I would suggest you seek an electrician. This is not a job for someone who doesn't understand electricity basics.

wire on the black screw on the old switch to the black screw on the new switch

the red put on the side with the single screw the white or yellow on the other side above the black screw

i am thinking the blue is the power and is on the black screw of the 3 way switch.

you can flip the traveler wires until it works.
