Refrigerator was operating in the garage and is about 6 years old. Found water on the floor last night and today realialized that both the freezer and refrigerator is not cooling. Lights are on when doors are open and I can hear something running . Any ideas on the problem and estimated costs to fix would be appreciated.

your refrigerant has leaked out . (freon) a technician must locate and repair the leak(s) and then recharge the system with the appropriate refrigerant... here in southern california the damage would be anywhere from $100.00 to $400.00 dollars. Freon is expensive. (r-22) Best of luck to you.

shut it off, wait for 3 min turn it back on
listen for the compressor to kick in, if it dos not then its shot,
