Get him to make nice Christmas tree decorations. Help him draw and colour Christmas stockings to hang around the house, make popcorn, and ask him to help you string them for tree decorations. Honey there is so much one can do with a 7 yrs old in arts and crafts. I am 40yrs old and we just did a bunch of cuttings for our Spoon and Feed drive. We made mittens, bells, toques, scarfs all out of cardboard, and than tied them together to make bundles of three, this will now go to the families who we donate food to during the holiday's so that their children can put these cut outs as decorations for their Christmas tree. Use your imagination. Good luck

If you have any colored wrapping tissue (it's very thin, not the regular wrapping paper) you can make temporary tattoos. Cut a shape from the colored tissue and throw any little scraps away. Wet the skin where you want to place the tattoo. Carefully place the tattoo on the skin and press firmly. Have your brother count slowly to ten (or to 20 if he can't slow down) and remove the paper. Voila! One quick tattoo.

You can also use Google or Dogpile and type in "craft ideas children free" and you'll get a ton of good ideas.

My son is almost 7-- I wish he'd do more arts and crafts! He just wants to play with Legos all day...

It's almost Christmas, so making Christmas ornaments might be fun. Get cheapo foam ornament balls from the $1 store and some glitter-glue, ribbons, beads, etc. Let the kid go crazy with the ornaments, and hang 'em on the tree.

Likewise, making Christmas cards could be fun. Cut Christmas-y shapes from heavy paper (construction paper or cardstock) and let him glue them onto blank cards (cardstock folded in half) however he likes. Add glitter glue (all kids love glitter glue. Heck, I like glitter glue, and I'm 27), beads, ribbons, etc. When it's all dry, write a message inside and give it away!

Shrinky-Dinks are super fun, also. Just go to shrinkydinks.com and order up a pack of Frosted Ruff 'N' Ready ($5 for 10 sheets), and follow the instructions inside. He can make jewelry, suncatchers, Christmas ornaments, etc. quickly and easily (all you need are colored pencils, a hole punch and an oven).

You can get big bags of plastic beads at craft stores (and sometimes the Dollar Store), along with some elastic thread, to make necklaces or bracelets (for himself or for others as Christmas gifts).

You can also buy sticker paper to go in a printer. You can just draw on this, too, and cut it out into stickers.

One thing I did with my son was to get him a white t-shirt and then picked up a set of fabric crayons. With these you just draw a picture on a piece of paper and iron it onto a cotton shirt. It's fun! You can get these at craft stores, and probably places like Wal-Mart.

Whatever you choose, good luck and have fun!

Yes, I make things with him. Cut out Christmas tress from construction paper and decorate. Make popcorn and string them for your tree.

me and my 8 yr old find things to do like cut snowflakes out of coffee filters, just color or not color ,fold them in half and in half again and again until they look like thin triangles and then cut the edges in different shapes. coffee filters are really inexpensive. I usuually do the harder cuts and he tells me what shapes to make on the edges , simple cuts they can do themselves.
