There's not much in amplifiers at the $100 level. Of course, since you are a beginner, that will be all you need for a while. Check out the Johnson line of practice amps. They've got them for about that much - 10-20 watt sizes.

As far as guitars - if you can buy a used one - you'll get a nicer instrument for the same money - Gibson, Fender, Yamaha. Find one that you love how it plays and feels, then you're more likely to practice practice practice!

a voxac30 is my dream amp. Anything less then that in the vox world is not the same the ac15 is nice but its missing the complete sound. the old line6 spiders (version 1) are cool. Digital amps really let you tweak them and get lots of sounds if you want to spend the time. You should try a fender twin and also the Blues Jr. the twin might be a bit two clean and pricey but the Blues Jr. are nice especially if you upgrade the speaker. Also Roland JC-120's are great, although a distortion pedal is needed. have you played a tele thinline with 2 p90's. those are absolutely awesome guitars and the reissues are only $700, which would then allow you to buy the AC30.

I'd mostly agree w/ the ones who suggested the Epiphone Les Paul. There aren't many good rock amps for $100 though. For hard rock you need some built in effects like compression and reverb and that raises the price.
You might want to consider an amp someone else traded in to get 1 for $100.

You won't get much for that. You need top buy the best youy can. If it's something cheap but of good quality, try to get a second hand Fender Stratocaster, possibly Japanese, Mexican or Squier. Try for a second hand amp too but take the guitar with you so you can hear what it sounds like when you play. You may have to go for a small wattage, 30 or 50 amp.

I have to agree with Kodi. A Les Paul Epiphone is a great first guitar, has great sound, and is fairly inexpensive. A good amp is going to run a bit more than $100 but you might think about getting an packaged deal. Click on link below for an idea!

Jam good, homeslice.

Get a Gibson Les Paul, and for the amp a Marshall.
Unless you want something with heavier sound get the guitar "BC Rich Warlock"

I enjoy my Vox Valvetronix. It is a tube unit that has a built in effects board. Almost all effects (including all types of distortion) are built in and selectable. I believe it comes in a small 15 watt unit all the way up to a wall shaking 100watt.

P.S. I don’t work for Vox :})>
